Carmine Appice The arrival of the Vanilla Fudge, with their global hit, "You Keep Me Hanging On", completed a triumvirate of 'musician' rock bands that included Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. But the Fudge had Carmine Appice. And Carmine really knew how to rock. With a 26" bass drum and oversized toms, his sound was huge. And when he added a second bass drum and kicked into high gear to deliver thunderous grooves and stunning solos with Cactus and Beck, Bogart & Appice, he invented hard rock and metal drumming as we know them today. With Rod Stewart he co-composed and topped the charts with the hits "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and "Young Turks". From there he powered Ozzy Osbourne, Blue Murder, and Guitar Zeus, among others. His books, including 'Realistic Rock', 'Realistic Hi-Hats', and 'Rudiments to Rock' were the first dedicated to educating rock drummers, and his clinics paved the way for the events we see today. With the bands Pearl; Char, Bogart & Appice; and Derringer, Bogart & Appice - and with occasional dates by the Fudge - Carmine continues to define hard rock drumming with a power all his own. |

Dave Weckl Bursting onto the international music scene with Chick Corea’s Elektric Band, Dave Weckl rapidly defined himself as one of modern drumming’s leading young talents. Accomplished and adventureous, with firm grounding in the traditions of technique, time and taste, he rose through the ranks of the New York club and session scene, playing with such major names as Paul Simon and Michel Camillo before teaming up with Corea and becoming a major influence on drummers around the world. But with his fiery style and highly independent nature, Dave was soon fronting and recording with his own band. He knew where he wanted to go with his drumming, and The Dave Weckl Band was the result. Blending elements of jazz, funk, world and more, Dave and his band have opened up a new groove for the drummer once known in New York as the ‘the wicked kid from St. Louis’. Transition, the debut album from a lineup that includes keyboardist Steve Weingart, bassist Tom Kennedy, and saxophonist Brandon Fields was the start of a musical direction that sees Dave rediscovering himself and his music. It’s this desire to move into the future, to progress and perfect that makes Dave such a driving force in drumming. Witness the packed clubs, the poll-topping positions in the drum magazines, and the critical acclaim. Without a doubt one of modern drummings most influential and inspiring voices, Dave Weckl is a drummers’ drummer. |

Vinnie Paul With Cowboys from Hell, Vinnie Paul and Pantera shook the world with a new breed of rock. It was heavy, it was aggressive, and it was really mean. With his fast, furious and totally loud drumming, Vinnie is the ideal player to power this raw and raucous band from Dallas, Texas. Storming across the world with "Vulgar Display of Power", "Great Southern Trendkill", and "Reinventing the Steel" the bad boys from the south blasted out their saga, while Far Beyond Driven became the first metal music album to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. Success bred confidence, and Vinnie soon expanded his role to include producing. But ultimately this man with the sledgehammer hands and pneumatic feet is a wicked drummer. A very wicked drummer! |
