The ferocity of his playing, and the big size of his sound were key elements in the sonic power that rocketed Pearl Jam's VS album to global multi-platinum status. On the strength of that album alone David Abbruzzese was assured a place in rock history and in the hearts of drummers around the world. After his departure from Pearl Jam, David ventured into a number of projects of interest, including the all-star In From the Storm Hendrix tribute disc and a long-term recording venture with The Green Romance Orchestra before immersing himself in production. An exciting and personable player, David Abbruzzese inspired a whole generation to get into drumming and the 'Seattle Sound'.

Carmine Appice Carmine Appice
The arrival of the Vanilla Fudge, with their global hit, "You Keep Me Hanging On", completed a triumvirate of 'musician' rock bands that included Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. But the Fudge had Carmine Appice. And Carmine really knew how to rock. With a 26" bass drum and oversized toms, his sound was huge. And when he added a second bass drum and kicked into high gear to deliver thunderous grooves and stunning solos with Cactus and Beck, Bogart & Appice, he invented hard rock and metal drumming as we know them today. With Rod Stewart he co-composed and topped the charts with the hits "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and "Young Turks". From there he powered Ozzy Osbourne, Blue Murder, and Guitar Zeus, among others. His books, including 'Realistic Rock', 'Realistic Hi-Hats', and 'Rudiments to Rock' were the first dedicated to educating rock drummers, and his clinics paved the way for the events we see today. With the bands Pearl; Char, Bogart & Appice; and Derringer, Bogart & Appice - and with occasional dates by the Fudge - Carmine continues to define hard rock drumming with a power all his own.

Dave Weckl Dave Weckl
Bursting onto the international music scene with Chick Corea’s Elektric Band, Dave Weckl rapidly defined himself as one of modern drumming’s leading young talents. Accomplished and adventureous, with firm grounding in the traditions of technique, time and taste, he rose through the ranks of the New York club and session scene, playing with such major names as Paul Simon and Michel Camillo before teaming up with Corea and becoming a major influence on drummers around the world. But with his fiery style and highly independent nature, Dave was soon fronting and recording with his own band. He knew where he wanted to go with his drumming, and The Dave Weckl Band was the result. Blending elements of jazz, funk, world and more, Dave and his band have opened up a new groove for the drummer once known in New York as the ‘the wicked kid from St. Louis’. Transition, the debut album from a lineup that includes keyboardist Steve Weingart, bassist Tom Kennedy, and saxophonist Brandon Fields was the start of a musical direction that sees Dave rediscovering himself and his music. It’s this desire to move into the future, to progress and perfect that makes Dave such a driving force in drumming. Witness the packed clubs, the poll-topping positions in the drum magazines, and the critical acclaim. Without a doubt one of modern drummings most influential and inspiring voices, Dave Weckl is a drummers’ drummer.

Phil Collins Phil Collins
With jazzy cymbalwork, seamless odd-time transitions, and cascading tom fills, Phil Collins defined progressive drumming while propelling Genesis to the highest heights of global success. As a lad in London he listened to jazz, the Beatles, and the Action before joining Genesis in time for Nursery Cryme. The Lamb Lies Down of Broadway marked a major change for the band and by Trick of the Tail Phil was lead vocalist while doubling on drums. "Wind and Wuthering", "Duke and Abacab" were all huge hits, while with his 'other' band, Brand X, he delivered burning fusion on "Unorthodox Behaviour", "Morrocan Roll", and others. There were sessions and production including Eric Clapton (Behind the Sun) and Howard Jones (No One is to Blame). But with the thundering drum intro for "In the Air Tonight" he defined his solo future. His Tarzan movie soundtrack scored him an Oscar, while his passion project, the Phil Collins Big Band, is another big success. Phil Collins is a player with a heart for the music.

Vinnie Paul Vinnie Paul
With Cowboys from Hell, Vinnie Paul and Pantera shook the world with a new breed of rock. It was heavy, it was aggressive, and it was really mean. With his fast, furious and totally loud drumming, Vinnie is the ideal player to power this raw and raucous band from Dallas, Texas. Storming across the world with "Vulgar Display of Power", "Great Southern Trendkill", and "Reinventing the Steel" the bad boys from the south blasted out their saga, while Far Beyond Driven became the first metal music album to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. Success bred confidence, and Vinnie soon expanded his role to include producing. But ultimately this man with the sledgehammer hands and pneumatic feet is a wicked drummer. A very wicked drummer!

Chad Smith Chad Smith
His funky, deep down grooves drive the Red Hot Chili Peppers with incessant muscle, and a spacious sense of taste. Chad Smith is a powerful player whose diverse influences, from the jazz of Buddy Rich to the big bonzo beats of John Bonham, and the zany go-for-it attack of Keith Moon enhance his playing with a strong sense of swing, great pop/rock sense, and an intuitive instinct to nail the groove deep within the pocket… but keep it fun. Chad joined the Peppers in time for Mothers Milk and from that point on the wild 'n' crazy guy behind the drums has pumped up the rhythm section's power with rock-steady grooves, hard-hitting syncopations and a whole lot of personality on such highlights as "Give It Away", "Higher Ground", "Under the Bridge", "Lonely View", and the universal hit album, Californication. He's a popular clinician, and his clinic tour with Steve White was the biggest drum event ever in the UK. The Chili Peppers are also a video favorite, and winning the MTV Video Vanguard Award further highlighted the popularity and influence of this great drummer and his band.

Jonathan Mover Jonathan Mover
Jonathan started drums at age 13. Heavily influenced by Frank Zappa, Todd Rundgren and British progressive rock bands including Yes and Genesis, he got an early start with double-bass drumming, odd-time signatures, and tuned percussion. The Berklee College of Music, studies with Gary Chaffee and major local gigs prepared him for a move to England, where he played with Toyah and Marillion before teaming up with Steve Howe (Yes) and Steve Hackett (Genesis) to form GTR. In ’88, back in the US, he joined Joe Satriani and enjoyed hits including Dreaming #11 and Beautiful Guitar. He also got into sessions, with Peter Frampton, Aretha Franklin, Frank Gambale, Mick Jagger, and Alice Cooper utilizing his talents, while Oleander and Fuel topped the charts with his drumming as their pulse. Jonathan also played a key role in the design of our PRO SoniX cymbal series, while partnership in New York’s Skyline Studios sees him pursuing new success with his own band, Einstein, and a long host of others.
